If you have an emergency in Clark County or anywhere in Washington State... DO NOT text 9-1-1 on your phone.
Clark County’s current 9-1-1 telephone system is designed around voice communications. Until funding for upgrades are in place, Clark County’s 9-1-1 system cannot deliver text data to Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency’s 9-1-1 Dispatch Center. The same is true for all 9-1-1 centers throughout Washington State.
So for now, if you have an emergency, you must make a voice call to 9-1-1 and be ready to provide your name, location and type of emergency.
