We Love Our Volunteers

2012 Commemorative Pin
Some of you thought we forgot to recognize National Volunteer Week which ran from April 15-21st according to most of the national calendars.

Yes, there was even a Presidential Proclamation issued to honor the tremendous volunteer service of the men & women in communities all across the nation, but here in Clark County, we're celebrating THIS WEEK!

We have AMAZING volunteers that serve in so many different programs within emergency services and each year, we honor them through a joint event which is coordinated by our Countywide Citizen Corps Program.

This great event is open to all of the volunteers that serve in the following programs:

This Thursday evening, we will host our Annual Volunteer Recognition Event which will include traditional ceremonial elements and a keynote address by Mark Matthias, who himself has been one of the incredibly generous supporters of our local community.

Mark is the owner of Beaches Restaurant here in Vancouver, WA and is well known for incredibly creative community events like Green Eggs & Ham in area schools to promote reading and the Rod Rally for the WA State School for the Blind.  Mark's commitment to leadership, creativity and generosity make him an excellent choice for this year's event.

Each year, this event draws nearly 200 volunteers and is a wonderful opportunity for us to honor and celebrate the work of so many unique programs.  We look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

If you are a volunteer in one of these programs and have not yet RSVP'ed to attend this event, contact Cindy Stanley, cindy.stanley@clark.wa.gov or 360-992-6285 today.

If you are a member of the media and would like additional information or access to this event, please contact Cheryl Bledsoe, cheryl.bledsoe@clark.wa.gov or 360-992-6270.
