DAY 4: What's Your Plan?

You've all heard the mantra, right?  Have a Kit, Get a Plan, Be Informed.  Having a family emergency plan is one of the preparedness fundamentals, but today, your task will require an honest assessment of your family plan

DAY 4 ACTIVITY:
Take a look at the Family Emergency Plan template that CRESA offers and compare it to your own emergency plan.  Today, we want to know, does your Family Emergency Plan cover all of these topic areas?

PROOF:  Tell us what is currently missing from your Family Emergency Plan.  [If you don't have a plan at all, don't worry.  As long as you are willing to be honest with us, you will still earn today's base point!]
  • Leave a comment with your answer in it on this blog post
  • Put your answer on the CRESA Facebook Fan Page or tag CRESA in a note, if you are recording your activities on your own page.
  • Provide the answer on Twitter (please include @CRESA or hashtag #30days30ways in your tweets)
  • If you are uncomfortable sharing this information online, you may email your answer to: cheryl.bledsoe@clark.wa.gov
For an EXTRA 2 POINTS on this task:
Commit to filling out the READY America template for creating a family preparedness plan.  You can click ON THIS LINK which will lead you through a tutorial to fill out a basic family plan which primairly gathers contact & relocation information.  [Please note: You cannot save this template so only fill it out from a computer you can immediately print from.]

For an EXTRA 5 POINTS on this task:
Commit to completing the CRESA Family Emergency Plan Template or update your existing plan to include all of the elements listed on this template.

So, if you are doing the math, this task is worth a whopping 6 points!!  If your family emergency plan already covers all of the areas in the CRESA template, exists in a safe location and your family members are aware of the key information, then you will earn the full 6 points on this task.

Remember, you have until midnight on 9/30/10 to complete this task (and any of the other tasks!).

Thanks for playing along with us.  We are so encouraged by seeing folks improving their readiness which was the primary goal in this preparedness campaign.  Keep up the GREAT work.

We are still early in this contest and people can join ANYTIME and can play from ANYWHERE.  While we have many folks from SW Washington, this game is intended to be accessible to everyone and will contain modifications for those playing from afar.

Yesterday, this #30Days30Ways contest was shared by people in 14 states and 3 countries.  Keep on sharing information and leading the way in your communities.  By sharing your play, you encourage and inspire others!

Sadly, I didn't have any of this information stored in one place. At all. Well, in my head, but That's not likely to be easy to maintain in an emergency. But now that I've filled out the "Emergency Plan" templates. I have it stored with all my other files. - Woohoo!

I didn't have any of this information stored in an accessible manner - Except my head. Now that I've filled out the Emergency Plan Templates, I have a printed copy and a digital copy saved with my other helpful documents!

I have filled out the Emergency plan and placed copies with all my contacts. And printed a hard copy to store for myself.

I have filled out the CRESA emergency plan and have one copy in my fireproof safe and one copy in our emergency preparedness kit. That took a little while to do but so worthwhile
