Winter Storm Update

Here's an update on our last article about the pending winter storm:

  • There is greater certainty we will have accumulations of snow, sleet, and freezing rain in our area.
  • The snow should begin sometime between 10 PM and 2 AM tonight. The heaviest snowfall will come tomorrow afternoon when a band of precipitation is expected to stall in the north Willamette Valley.
  • The Weather Service is predicting 2-4 inches of snow. There is still uncertainty over specific amounts. Some areas may have more.
  • Later Saturday evening the snow will transition to freezing rain. Expect ¼-½ inch accumulation.

So the travel conditions could be horrid tomorrow. Are you ready? If you have to travel tomorrow, is your car ready? You should be gassed up and have a well-stocked emergency kit and chains or other traction devices.

And are you ready to avoid driving if you need to? Stock up on food and other supplies before the storm hits so you can be comfortable at home for a little while. While you're at it, now is a good time to make sure that your home emergency supplies are replenished.
