Winter Storm Watch Issued for Clark County

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory and Hazardous Weather Outlook for freezing rain in the greater Portland metropolitan area which includes Clark County.  These advisories are in effect from Friday evening through Saturday afternoon.

From the text of the Winter Storm Watch:
  • Precipitation may begin as early as late Friday evening
  • Precipitation is likely to start as snow....sleet or freezing rain in Portland and Vancouver metro area...and as snow further north
  • South and Western parts of the metro are may change to rain during the day Saturday....with snow, sleet or freezing rain continuing elsewhere
  • Wintry precipitation may continue into Saturday night
  • There is a greater than normal degree of uncertainty with this forecast....keep watching the weather forecasts as this system develops. 
As for preparedness, check your car's 72-hour kit to ensure that you have an extra blanket, flashlight with batteries, flares, and a little food in case you're stranded.  Also, check to make sure that you have key phone numbers on hand for roadside assistance in case you encounter any problems on the road.
