Does your business have chemicals onsite? Are you aware of the federal requirement that you report your chemicals to the fire department and to other state and local officials each year? If not or if you want to learn more, please join us for a short, one-hour Chemical Inventory Reporting Workshop at 2 PM on Thursday, March 24. The workshop will be held at the Northwest Regional Training Center at 11606 NE 66th St. in Vancouver. This event was originally scheduled for February 24 but was postponed to this date because of weather and travel concerns. The workshop is conducted by specialists from the Washington State Department of Ecology and the Environmental Protection Agency. No registration is required.
Reporting your chemical inventories is important. The fire department needs to know about chemicals so they can safely respond to an emergency at your facility. Emergency planners also need to know about chemical inventories so they can ensure the community is ready to work together to respond to chemical emergencies. Compliance with the federal requirements will also ensure that your business can avoid the hefty penalites for failing to report.
The workshop will cover the the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act which says that if you have over a certain amount of specific regulated chemicals that you must report your inventories each year. The workshop will also cover other planning and reporting requirements that you need to know.
This workshop is sponsored by the Clark County Local Emergency Planning Committee.
