Fireworks Safety Fun

Yesterday, fireworks stands sprung up all across Clark County which signals the coming Independence Day holiday on July 4th.  It's important to remember key fireworks safety rules as you celebrate this season.

Thanks to the Midland Fire Department in Michigan, these "rapping" firefighters share great tips through their home-created rap:

To summarize the rules for those who might not be able to download the video,
  1. Buy Approved Fireworks  (Know the new law about use times in Vancouver!)
  2. Follow the instructions on the label
  3. Use outdoors with adult supervision
  4. Have a bucket of water and hose handy
  5. Light one firework at a time
  6. Don't store fireworks in your pockets
  7. Don't run, throw or point fireworks
  8. Stay away from dry grass
  9. Don't try to relight a dud firework
  10. Wait 20 minutes after everything has been lighted to collect up the trash
Click HERE for a great PRINTABLE flyer about fireworks safety from our local Vancouver Fire Department (as seen below) and have a wonderful and happy 4th of July!
