Volcanoes and Bill Nye, The Science Guy

May 18th, 1980, was a significant day in the world of "Disaster History" here in the Pacific Northwest. If you lived here, I'll bet you can remember exactly what you were doing when you saw Mt. St. Helens blow her top nearly 30 year ago!
The Mount St. Helens Institute has planned a series of event commemorating this huge disaster to help us all relive the history and teach new generations about the power of magnificent volcanoes.  The first of these events will be occuring on Thursday, March 11th, when Bill Nye, the Science Guy visits Portland in an event called "Volcanoes Change the World....and so can You!"

Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students if you buy them in advance....or $25 for adults and $10 for students at the door.  Seating is limited, so buy your tickets early.

According to the Mt St Helens Institute, "Bill will share his thoughts on Mount St. Helens, 30 years after its catastrophic eruption in 1980 and will connect the scientific discoveries to those at Mars and other locations around the solar system.  Expect some fun and entertaining experiments as well as a spirited question and answer session."
