Private contractor to launch $4.3 million project on Timmen Road
Vancouver, WA – Rotschy Inc. of Vancouver will start major work next week on a $4.3 million contract to improve Northwest Timmen Road and Northeast 10th Avenue under the direction of Clark County Public Works.
The 3.2-mile project will improve safety and create a smoother driving surface from Northwest La Center Road in La Center to South Fifth Street in Ridgefield. The existing road surface will be crushed and used as base material for a new layer of asphalt.
The project also will add a 24-inch water line for Clark Public Utilities. Turn lanes will be added at Northwest Timmen and La Center roads.
Local access will be maintained for homes and businesses, but drivers should expect delays and rough road surfaces during construction.
The road will be closed for through traffic, which will be directed to detour via Interstate 5 between the Ridgefield and La Center interchanges. The detour for through traffic is expected to continue until early fall.
Project partners include Clark Public Utilities and the cities of Ridgefield and La Center. The utility district will pay about half of the construction cost. Federal grants will cover about 30 percent. The county and cities will make the remainder of the investment.
