Stage 2 Burn Ban Issued for Clark County

The use of ALL fireplaces, inserts, wood stoves, and pellet stoves is prohibited until air quality improves. Households without an alternative source of heat are exempt.

The Southwest Clean Air Agency has issued a Stage 2 Burn Ban effective immediately throughout Clark County.  A strong inversion weather system has caused these stagnate conditions.  The current weather pattern is expected to last into early next week.  All out door burning is also prohibited during the Stage 2 Burn Ban.  Households without an alternate source of heat are exempt, but we ask that you burn as clean as possible.

Last weeks Stage 1 Burn Ban still allowed those with certified wood stoves to continue to burn wood, but with today's escalation to Stage 2 ALL wood heating is prohibited.  We greatly appreciate your compliance with the Southwest Clean Air Agency Burn Ban.

Air pollution at the level we are currently experiencing is of particular concern for people with heart and lung problems children, and adults over 65.  Fine particulate matter released by burning wood can trigger breathing difficulties for susceptible individuals.  We recommend you stay indoors if you are prone to respiratory problems.

Thank you, and here are some helpful links concerning the matter:
