Drop, Cover, Hold On!!

The sun is shining... or it's an over-cast with scattered showers, type of day.  You know, just the perfect, beautiful fall day in the Pacific Northwest.   And then.... without warning, like some scene out of a disaster film, the ground rumbles, building's shake, bridge's start to sway... Would you know what to do?

You might see many of your co-workers, dropping and finding cover as they practice that response tomorrow morning. The Great Washington ShakeOut being held tomorrow, 10/18 at 10:18 a.m. provides you with the perfect opportunity to test your response to an actual earthquake.   Many areas of the globe including right here in the Pacific Northwest are prone to earthquakes.  You could be anywhere when an earthquake strikes:  at work, at school, the store, driving down the roadway or even on vacation.  Are you prepared to survive and recover quickly?

The Great ShakeOut earthquake drill is an opportunity to practice how to be safer during earthquakes:  "Drop, Cover and Hold On."   ShakeOut also has been organized to encourage you, your school, your organization and ultimately our community as a reminder of updating plans and supplies, along with securing your space, in order to prevent damage and injuries.

It's not too late to participate.  There is still time to register and join almost 1 million Washingtonians, and millions across the U.S. and around the world.  There are also several other ways you can get involved not only as an individual, but as a business, school, faith-based organization, and community groups.  The Washington ShakeOut Website has many useful tools you can download and share.  Challenge your friends, and co-workers that no matter where they may be, to join in for the Great Washington ShakeOut 10/18/2012 at 10:18 a.m.!!
