CERT Class Deadline Aproaching

Community Emergency Response Team (*CERT) classes are very popular here in Clark County but the opportunity only comes around a couple times of year.

East County Fire & Rescue is sponsoring a class that starts soon and only a few spots are left.  Classes start October 19 and are completed on October 27, with a two Friday nights and two Saturday sessions.  This format of a quick two weekends has been very popular.  You must attend all 20 hours of this training to successfully complete the course.

When:  Friday, October 19, and 26, 2012 - 7 pm to 9:30 pm
            Saturday, October 20 and 27, 2012 - 9 am to 5 pm

Cost:  $30 covers training supplies and materials

For registration and more information call East County Fire & Rescue at 360.834.4908.

*The CERT program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.  Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises and refresher trainings, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders aren't immediately available to help.  CERT members are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in this community.
