Winter Travel Resources

With the first snow on the mountains, it's not too hard to see that winter weather is just around the corner.  Today, we'd like to highlight some useful traveling resources that you can use to stay in touch with road conditions in our local area!

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has both a presence on social media and a great website for highlighting  travel alerts around the State of Washington.

The travel alerts website from WSDOT is located at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/trafficalerts/.
From their main website, you can also see WSDOT's Blog, Twitter, YouTubeFlicKr  and Facebook Fan Page.

C-Tran, the bus/transit system in Clark County, offers the ability to sign up to receive email rider alerts.  Their main website is located at http://www.c-tran.com/ and these alerts scroll across their main page, too, if you want to check out your trip route in advance.

For checking into what's going on in the Portland Metro Area, check out http://www.publicalerts.org/ which brings together information on Tri-Met and the Portland Airport.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is also celebrating its 10th anniversary of their TripCheck website at http://www.tripcheck.com/

Remember, when bad weather strikes, to be cautious and respectful of other drivers.
