This morning at 4:00 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement for the area which basically include the whole region in which Clark County resides:

In "weather statement" designation, it reads:

LOWER COLUMBIA-GREATER PORTLAND METRO AREA- CENTRAL WILLAMETTE VALLEY-SOUTH WILLAMETTE VALLEY- WESTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE-I-5 CORRIDOR IN COWLITZ COUNTY- GREATER VANCOUVER AREA
Key Information that this statement includes is:
  • Coldest weather of the season is expected late this week and early into next week.
  • Temperatures could be in the 20's even in the valleys
  • If any moisture materializes, we could see snow even to the valley floor
Whether the "S" word actually materializes, there are a few things you can do now to prepare yourself and your loved ones:
  • Protect your temperature-sensitive plants
  • Wrap outdoor faucets
  • Cover your foundation vents
  • Ensure that you're dressing appropriately for colder temperatures
  • Make sure that your vehicles are prepared for the weather and that you're carrying tire chains and blankets
  • Update your vehicle emergency kit to ensure that you're ready to help yourself and others if you were to find yourself stranded.
Every ounce of preparation done now ensures that you are more ready to face the coming winter months!
