As we gear up to celebrate the holidays, we were inspired by the 12 Days of Christmas and wanted to get everyone thinking about how they can improve their personal preparedness and our overall community resilience.
We are excited to share information about CRESA's next game, called 12 Days Prepared (#12DaysPrepared), which will begin Wednesday, December 1st and conclude at midnight on Sunday, December 12th.
This 12 day game will be followed by a special "Worst Day of Your Life" Community Conversation event, sponsored by the Homeland Security Center of Excellence, CRESA and Clark College on Monday, December 13th, from 1p-5p. To RSVP for the Community Conversation, you can fill out this online form.
Everyone who attends the Community Conversation will receive a raffle ticket towards prizes that will be provided by the Center of Excellence. However, those who play #12DaysPrepared have the opportunity to earn 24 additional raffle tickets to enhance their odds of winning these prizes.
How Do We Play?
CRESA will post a daily scenario which will provide the opportunity to earn 2 raffle tickets each day at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time on our Blog, Facebook and Twitter pages.
The daily scenario will be found in the following locations online:
- Blog is located at http://www.cresa911.blogspot.com/
- Facebook Fan Page is located at www.facebook.com/cresa.911
- Twitter is located at http://www.twitter.com/CRESA
Daily Raffle Ticket 2 will be earned by sharing how you think your community should prepare to handle this scenario. Remembering that government resources will be taxed heavily and unreliable, consider creative measures to prepare yourselves and your loved ones.
Answers may be submitted by:
- Placing your answers on the CRESA Blog in the comments section
- Leaving comments on the Facebook Fan Page
- Tweeting via Twitter using the hashtag #12DaysPrepared to @CRESA
- Sending email to cheryl.bledsoe@clark.wa.gov
Who Can Play?
Anyone can play. In fact, we encourage EVERYONE to play along in this fun challenge. You don't have to live in Clark County to play. Since disasters may hit everyone equally, it does not matter whether you are an emergency responder who thinks you know all the answers to someone who has never considered some of these scenarios.
Your input, feedback and conversation are encouraged throughout the game.
What Will I Win?
A grand prize of a $25 American Express Gift Card and a $10 iTunes card will be awarded to the person who completes the most #12DaysPrepared scenarios. If there is a tie, a separate drawing will be held among the top scoring participants on the Day of the Community Conversation. You need not be present at the event to win the grand prize.
The first scenario will be issued on December 1st.
