It is easy to think that you may never see a huge disaster in your lifetime, and yet, small-scale emergencies, unplanned crisis and working through trauma seems to come to all of us at one time or another in our lives.
DAY 30 ACTIVITY: Today, we want you to make your own personal "to do" list for tasks and items you still have left to complete to feel fully prepared for any emergency or crisis situation. You will earn +3 points if you can identify at least 3 more things you could and should do to enhance your personal preparedness. Lists of 1 or 2 items will be worth +1 point.
Consider the following areas:
- Family Emergency Plan
- Emergency Preparedness Kit
- For Yourself, Loved Ones and Pets
- For Your Vehicles
- For Your Office
- Evaluating How You Stay Informed
- Access to TV & Radio (that is not-reliant on electrical power)
- Telephones (ensuring your cell phones are registered to receive emergency alerts)
- Text Messaging
- Social Media
- NOAA Weather Radios
- Conducting drills and exercises (fire alarm, duck & cover, evacuation & relocation)
- Maintenance Plan for how often you update your preparedness & stored items
- Preparing to volunteer your skills in your local community during times of crisis.
- Leave a comment with your answer in it on this blog post.
- You can put your answer on the CRESA Facebook Fan Page or tag CRESA in a note, if you are recording your activities on your own page.
- You can post the answers on Twitter (please include @CRESA or hashtag #30days30ways in your tweet
