We conducted 2 experiments which included:
- The launch of an OEMA Conference 2009 Fan Page on FaceBook
- Twitter conversation using the #oema hashtag
As a result, the Fan Page is currently up to 71 fans (as of 5:41 p.m.) and we received over 80 Twitter messages within 3 hours from people in over 15 states. We had initially planned to terminate the fan page today; however, because people are continuing to join, we'll gather final statistics at the end of tomorrow's conference.
We thank everyone who received our blog via RSS feed, played along on Facebook and sent tweets with the #oema hashtag.PLEASE NOTE: If you received the instructions blog after 5:00 p.m., it is because you are signed up to receive this blog via email. We have stated this before that there will always be a time lag through FeedBurner. If you would like to receive this blog more quickly, we strongly encourage using an RSS feed (which will only have a 15-30 minute delay), join our Facebook Fan Page or follow us on Twitter.
We feel strongly that the implementation of these tools will additionally enhance our ability to communicate with vital populations during an emergency event.
Thanks again for your support of this project and the emergency management community!
