Places to Stay Cool This Week

With the summer heat wave upon us, there are number of places to stay cool in Clark County this week. If you do not have air conditioning in your home, consider visiting one of these alternate locations.

We will keep this list up-to-date all week with information as we receive it:


Countywide Options

Most libraries within Clark County are open from 10a-8p Monday-Friday (C-TRAN provides direct service to most library locations, please check http://www.c-tran.com/)

LaCenter, Washougal and Woodland libraries are open from 10a-6p

Regal Cinemas are also continuing to offer their Free Family Film Festival at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday-Thursday this week.

C-TRAN operators, supervisors, security officers, dispatchers and passenger service representatives are on Safewatch alert and can provide assistance to passengers and others who may be seeking protection from the heat. They'll help get you to an air conditioned spot and fare-paying passengers are welcome to ride air conditioned buses.

Vancouver

Firstenburg Community Center is open from 5:30a-10p Monday-Thursday, 5:30a-9p Fri (served by C-TRAN #80 Van Mall/Fishers)

Marshall and Luepke Center is open from 5:30a-9p Monday-Thursday (served by C-TRAN #25 St. Johns/Fruit Valley; #30 Burton; #39 Clark College/Medical Center)

Water Resources Education Center is open from 9a-5p Monday-Friday (not served by C-TRAN)

Fruit Valley Community Center, 3200 Fruit Valley Road, times unknown (C-TRAN #25 Fruit Valley/St. Johns)

Fishers Landing Assisted Living, 17171 SE 22nd Drive, Vancouver, 98663 (near 164th/McGillivray, by the Fred Meyer). Common areas are open from 8 AM to 8 PM all week. (C-TRAN #30 Burton; #37 Mill Plain)

Southwest Washington Medical Center, 400 NE Mother Joseph Place, Vancouver. The lobby of the Firstenburg Tower will be available from noon to 8 PM. No animals permitted. (C-TRAN #39 Clark College/Medical Center; #37 Mill Plain)

Northwest Regional Training Center, 11606 NE 66th St., Vancouver. Open 7 AM to 5 PM, from Wednesday thru Friday. (C-TRAN #72 Orchards; #44 Fourth Plain Limited)

Felida

Felida Fire Station at 11600 NW Lakeshore will be open from 11 AM -8 PM, Monday-Thursday (C-Tran will provide transportation from #9/Felida to riders who request drop-off at this location)

The Human Services Council will provide door-to-door transportation to the Felida Fire Station for low-income and those with disabilities. Rides are limited. Call the ride reservation line at (360) 258-2103

Battle Ground

Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E Main ST, Battle Ground. Open from 8a-9p Monday-Thursday (served by C-TRAN #7/Battle Ground)

Mountain View Urgent Care Clinic, 101 NW 12th AV, Battle Ground. Open from 8 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday thru Friday and 8 AM to 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday. (C-TRAN #7 Battle Ground)

East County

East County Fire & Rescue, Station 91, 600 NE 267th, Camas, WA 98607, 1p-8p, Monday-Thursday

Washougal Fire Department Community Room, 1400 A St., Washougal. Open Noon-8 PM through Friday, July 31. (C-TRAN #92 Camas/Washougal)

Hamlik Park - Kids Water Shower, 4285 Addy St., Washougal. 1-4 PM through Thursday, July 30. Firefighters will hand out water and popsicles! (C-TRAN #92 Camas/Washougal)

Woodland

Woodland Fire Station 91, 100 Davidson Ave., City of Woodland. July 30-31, Noon-10 PM

The Fern Prairie Fire Station will be open 1 PM to 8 PM this Monday--Thursday for public cooling.

The station is located at 600 NE 267th Avenue, Camas. This is on Hwy 500 north of Camas--next to the Grove Field Airport.

The Northwest Regional Training Center, 11606 NE 66th St., will operate a Cooling Center beginning at noon on 7/29. The Cooling Center will be open to the public from 0700 - 1700 hrs. on both Thursday and Friday this week as well.
